The Nine Stages of Dating a Novel

It’s been a week! If you’re still doing NaNo, you’re probably past the “squee” stage with your book and well into “procrastination” or “expletive.” Hang in there.

Yes, I’ve been putting off writing all morning. Yesterday, too. Hating everything now.

There is nothing in the NaNo rules that says you can’t drop rocks on everyone’s heads and start over with a new set of characters in the next chapter.

Or you could send in a team of ninjas who will beat everyone to death and proceed to have sublimely entertaining adventures for the rest of the book.

Or, if you don’t hate your characters enough to kill them off, they could just say, “Fuck it,” and go on a Mediterranean cruise.
