Food for remodeling

October 21, 2010 Stephanie Leary 1 Comment

After six years of griping about our kitchen cabinets and countertops, we’re finally replacing them. The kitchen has gone through this progression over the last couple of weeks:

Obviously, we’re going to be without a kitchen for at least six weeks. That’s a little awkward. Back in August, when my mom broke her foot, I went to her place and cooked for three days so she and my dad could just pull things out of the freezer. A few weeks ago, she came to visit us and returned the favor. We bought a small chest freezer, and I spent about four days cooking and freezing things.

So, if you need to cook for someone with a broken foot and/or kitchen, I can vouch for the freezability of all these things:

white chicken chili
sweet potato chili
beef chili
peasant stew
turkey meatloaf
lasagna (loosely based on the recipe on the noodle box)
tomato sauce for frozen Buitoni ravioli
pizza
pepper pork chops
pulled pork tacos (well, just the pork part)
salmon burgers
beef burgers (ground beef + teriyaki sauce)
lamb burgers (ground lamb + minced garlic)
chicken pot pie
pumpkin muffins
cornbread muffins (family recipe)
cheddar biscuits
mashed potatoes
white cheddar potatoes
drunken carrots (can’t find my recipe online, but it’s like this with baby carrots)

And, of course, ice cream.

Over on livejournal, this crossposted with pics of your book instead of kitchen pics. It was confusing, but hysterically funny at the same time. :)
