Spaghetti with Beef Mushroom Sauce

March 12, 2008 Stephanie Leary 2 Comments

Spaghetti with Beef Mushroom Sauce — OMFG that’s good. Alas, it’s also a diet breaker. (The page I cut from the magazine didn’t include the calorie count… otherwise I might not have made it.)

You know, a cup of heavy cream does tend to bump up the calorie count. Dang, over 1k! I bet it IS good!

It did say you could leave the cream out for a lower-cal version. Of course, you could just have some celery instead, too.

I knew the heavy cream was bad news, but as long as I hadn’t actually seen the calorie count, I could delude myself. The only saving grace is that the dish serves as the entire meal; we just added some salad. Still, next time I might try some light sour cream instead… the sauce could stand to be thicker anyway.

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
