Oh, noes.

Having whipped through the entire Lord Peter series in the first two weeks of the year, I decided to see if the BBC miniseries/movies/whatevers were any good. Strong Poison came in the other day, so I popped it into the player during lunch.

This is dreadful.

I don’t mean that it’s a bad production. Far from it. The problem is that Harriet Walter is playing Harriet Vane, and as soon as she opened her mouth, I hated her. Not because she’s a bad actress, but because she played Fanny in the Emma Thompson Sense & Sensibility, and she did it so well that I can’t hear her voice without feelings of loathing and revulsion.

Dammit. I really like Harriet Vane in print; I just can’t stand watching this.

Will try another episode later and see if things improve.

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
