Speaking Engagements

August 4, 2004 Stephanie Leary

If you’re local and web-inclined, you can watch me demonstrate how to convert an old-school page layout to CSS at the Brazos Valley Macromedia Users Group meeting on August 24th.

Also, Sarah and I will be talking to the West Houston RWA chapter about web design for authors on October 9. If anyone’s interested, I can probably post our somewhat rambling and overly ambitious outline.

Update: I’ve also set up a regular chat on web design for writers. Drop by #web on irc.sff.net on Thursdays at 9 Central, starting tonight.

Um. Do you mean the meeting on the 17th? The BVMUG webpage says they meet on the third tuesday of the month. In this case, the 17th. It also gives that date elsewhere. I’d like to go (since I wanna learn more about this CSS thingie), and I’d rather not be late. :)

No, as far as I know their site is just wrong this time. It should be updated in the next couple of days.

I’ll check tomorrow, though, to make sure I don’t show up late.

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
