The Strategic Research Development group was, like many offices at Texas A&M University, stuck with an old Dreamweaver-based website they didn’t know how to maintain. I moved the content into WordPress using the HTML Import plugin, designed them a simple theme (a child theme of Twenty Twelve), and spent a couple of hours showing them how to make changes. They were so comfortable with their new editing interface that when their group was reorganized into three new divisions just a few weeks after we launched, they were able to rewrite and rearrange the entire site to reflect their new structure.
While I don’t normally support very old browsers, this group caters to K-12 educators in rural areas, many of whom have ancient computers. They therefore requested that the site be compatible with IE6, and it is. It doesn’t look the same, but it works.
[Update: the group has now been reorganized out of existence, and the theme replaced with one designed to mirror the parent organization’s site.]
