Rutgers GradFund

2019 | Industry: Education

The School of Graduate Studies Peer Mentoring Fellowship Advising Service maintains a database of funding opportunities for graduate students: scholarships, fellowships, and other awards. The database is maintained in-house and needed to be synced with the public website—which first had to be migrated from an inadequate hosting service. WP All Import does the heavy lifting on the import, but the first attempts revealed a lot of metadata remediation work that needed to be done.

While the funding consultants worked on data cleanup, I crafted a Genesis child theme to mimic the office’s parent website and built a revamped search interface that would let website users filter and sort funding opportunities with as much precision as the database administrators could themselves.

The first phase of this project is complete, but further updates are on hold due to the pandemic funding interruptions.
