In 2004, I had a dream: WordPress could be used to manage “static” sites, not just blogs. This site was my proof. WordPress had just added its page feature, and the functions for dealing with it were somewhat rudimentary. Today, building this site would be a breeze. At the time, without any built-in options for displaying a page as the site’s home page, it was challenging. I made it work, though, and Marsha was able to edit her own site without my intervention — a huge leap, when many authors were still purchasing design/hosting packages that included one update per month! And a few years later, when Marsha decided to begin blogging, all we had to do was add a blank page called Blog and start publishing entries.
