Last day! We’re done! And when we’re done, it’s thud time.
Now, I’m in the final throes of that process. I’m revising. I’m reworking. I’m trudging once again through every page, every word, and someday soon, I will be, finally, done with it.
And then? I’m going to kill it.
I’m going to print it out, the full manuscript, and bind it carefully with twine.
Then I’m going to drop it, not from over my head, but from the third-story deck outside my room. Thud! Ha!
Then I’m going to go into the backyard and retrieve it and set it on the patio furniture and go into the forest here and get a nice chunk of wood (avoiding the poison ivy) and I am going to whittle that wood until a sharp point forms at one end and then I am going to drive a stake through the heart of that manuscript.
Then…
On to the Thank God It’s Over parties. Where there will hopefully be twine, and balconies, and stakes.
