Tomorrow, I’m speaking at the CASE District IV conference in Austin. I’m on at 3:30, talking about how I use WordPress as a complete CMS to manage several university offices’ sites. This is a shorter, updated version of my half-day workshop last fall at HighEdWeb.
This Wednesday afternoon, I’m teaching a 3-hour online workshop on WordPress themes. If you’d like to sign up, you can use the code WPLEARYS to receive a 10% discount off your registration.
If you know HTML and CSS, or you’ve designed for another CMS, but you don’t understand how WordPress themes work, this is the workshop for you. I’m going to start with a standard HTML file and show you how to turn it into a theme. Then I’ll show you how to add custom headers, backgrounds, and theme options, and how to really customize a theme (without touching the original!) using child themes.
I’m going to talk about the new features in 3.0, but I’ll go over how things work now in 2.9 as well, and why in some cases, the old ways might work better than the new ways, depending on your situation.
…. and I have a third speaking engagement coming up, but I can’t tell you about that one just yet!
