… I’m still here. Things have been hectic at the new(ish) job, and my writing group has been holding extra meetings during the summer. Blogging time shrank to nil. Sorry for falling off the face of the earth.
So, writing. I don’t think any of us have come close to meeting our goals for the summer, but I’m happy about certain small things accomplished along the way. Sarah and I went to a panel on finishing novels at ArmadilloCon and learned that we were doing everything wrong, which explains so much. (Actually we pretty much knew we were doing everything wrong but did it anyway. This happens in a group composed entirely of enablers.) We managed to pick up a couple of useful strategies, other than “apply butt to chair,” of course. So, not done, and not getting done as fast as I would like, but moving along. I woke up this morning knowing that I had been dreaming a short story. I managed to recapture part of it during lunch, but I have no idea now what the ending was. Guess I get to make something up.
BTW, I’m giving a half-hour presentation at this year’s HighEdWebDev Conference in Rochester. (If you work in higher ed and/or web design, the list of presentations from last year might be of interest.) Mine is on stress and the solo designer, or, as it is officially known, Making Do When the Web “Team” Is You.
Back to work.
