On Nerds

March 5, 2003 Stephanie Leary

Everyone must read this article: Why Nerds Are Unpopular. I found it via Making Light, where there are a few alternate theories put forth in the comments.

Fascinating stuff. I should make a box of stuff I want my kids to have. If I get around to it, this article will be in that box. (Maybe the Making Light comments too; there’s fascinating stuff in there.) As the author says, it would have helped the situation immensely if someone has just laid it bare at the time.

Xopher’s notion of letting teens sleep is an excellent one, and says more for home schooling than most of the statistics I’ve read.
