Vorkosigan discussions on Tor.com

April 5, 2009 Stephanie Leary 1 Comment

Jo Walton is posting about each Vorkosigan novel over on Tor.com, and there are now some illuminating remarks from Lois McMaster Bujold in the comments. (You might recall that I was in transports over this series when I discovered it last fall.) Here’s an index so far, since the first one didn’t get tagged with the rest:

  • Shards of Honor
  • The Warrior’s Apprentice
  • Ethan of Athos
  • The Borders of Infinity
  • Brothers in Arms
  • The Vor Game
  • Barrayar
  • Mirror Dance
  • Cetaganda
  • Memory
  • Komarr
  • A Civil Campaign
  • Diplomatic Immunity
  • series wrap-up (which could also serve as a nice introduction)
  • Winterfair Gifts
  • Interview with Lois McMaster Bujold about writing the series

She’s going in publication order rather than following the stories’ internal chronology, which makes things interesting.

Walton’s book posts are my favorite thing about Tor.com. It’s like getting a guided tour of her library, which just happens to be stocked with the kinds of things I like to read.

(ETA the books after Brothers in Arms)

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
