When mama’s tired, everybody’s tired

June 27, 2007 Stephanie Leary Leave a Comment

I’m tired. My characters were very tired tonight. Coincidence? I think not.

New words: 800
Reason for stopping: quota, past my bedtime, and that’s a nice round number
Sustenance: Raspberry tea
Exercise: none today.
Darling du jour: “Listening in on the collective conscious was exhausting.”
Teaching the spell-check to spell: joyriding. That should be one word, no?
Mean things: eavesdropping
Time wasters: the Cheney follies in the news

In other news: Went to Refresh tonight. I’d already seen Google’s pitch at work, and this was more of a product showcase than a philosophical or idea-generating talk, but I think even that much was new information to most people in the room. While there were quite a few users of Apps or Analytics, there were clearly a few people who’d never clicked the ‘more’ link at the top of a results page to see what else Google is up to. There’s talk of a teaching session on Analytics, which would be great. I know I’m not doing all that can be done with it.

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
