This is a combined video for a two-part assignment. In the first half, I put together a Book Blitz: three recommendations linked by a common theme. I chose novels that featured stories within stories, and recommended Olivia Dade’s Spoiler Alert (m/f contemporary romance), Scott Westerfeld’s Afterworlds (new adult f/f contemporary romance with an embedded fantasy novel), and K.L. Noone’s Character Bleed trilogy (contemporary m/m romance with an embedded m/m historical romance).
A fun side note: I built the website for Scott Westerfeld’s Afterworlds when it came out!
The second part of the video lists readalikes for Cat Sebastian, who writes historical romances set in the Regency era, romantic cozy mysteries set in the late 1940s, and a new series of low-conflict romances set in America in the early 1960s. Most of her work features queer couples with revolutionary or anti-capitalist sentiments. My recommendations include Courtney Milan, KJ Charles, Olivia Waite, and Cecilia Grant. This half of the video is based on a longer written set of recommendations, which I have reproduced here:
