Writing progress, such as it is

November 29, 2004 Stephanie Leary

The “current” WIP is dead in the water at the moment. Such is life.

Remember a couple weeks ago when I suddenly found the ending for the second book in an old trilogy project? I now have a beginning and some ramifications (new scene! wordage! yay!) in book 3. I still have absolutely no idea what happens in the middle. I have a small chunk of backstory that might be a good short story spinoff. Must devote more thought to this when my inner voice isn’t being drowned out by Metroid and the dishwasher, as it is right now.

I used the multiple car trips this week to get (almost) caught up on transcription. I have more done on that trilogy than I thought. I seem to be missing quite a bit of book 2 in the sisters quartet, though. This is most distressing. I remember writing more than this but I have no idea what I wrote, if you know what I mean. (Update: Found 3K in an old file. Now that’s what I’m talking about.)

I’m working on changing the quartet to first person. I think it’s better so far, but there’s going to be a lot of stuff cut as a result.

Oh, and I think I’ve found titles for those books. I’m on a roll with titles lately. Anyone need a title? I’ve got extras.

WordPress for Web Developers (9781430258667)

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
