Out of context

May 22, 2003 Stephanie Leary

Radio Buffy is amusing this afternoon. As usual, there are some songs you’d recognize from the show and some random bits of score and dialogue and such. Here’s a selection of today’s playlist:

“Rest in Peace” – James Marsters

caveman grunts and shrieks from “Beer Bad”

Suite from “Restless”

Suite from “Hush”

“Blue” – Angie Hart (of Splendid)

“Charge” – Splendid

a long stretch of the pseudo-Scandinavian dialogue between Anya and Olaf from “Selfless” (totally unintelligible, of course)

sounds of random violence

unidentified dramatic score

“Teenage FBI” – Guided By Voices

If you actually want nothing but music, this station ain’t for you. The stream is terribly muddy, but I recommend it all the same.

On a different note, does it have to be so hard to add new radio streams to iTunes? The only way I found was to drag an existing stream to a playlist, Get Info, and edit both the name and the stream URL to use the new station. Macworld mentions another method that involves using some third-party site. Why is this not an easy process?

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
