Reaching new lows

April 10, 2003 Stephanie Leary

Sci-Fi has scraped the bottom of the barrel and is pulling up splinters. I caught the second episode of Roar last night, and it’s even worse than I remembered. Even seeing Heath Ledger shirtless is not worth the agony of the dialogue, the plot, the casting, and the costumes. The redhead was wearing a halter-top getup last night that was amazingly similar to the orange outfit worn by Farscape’s resident redhead. I see Sci-Fi has also bought Cleopatra 2525. All they need now is Jack of All Trades to complete one of the rings of hell.

Oh, wait. They made Tremors into a series. We’re already there.

I find it amusing that the Sci-Fi site for Farscape has the quote from TV Guide – “the best science-fiction series on TV” – just above the notice about the series’ cancellation. Your eye is drawn from one sentence to the other, and then the irony hits…

One last note on television for the day: Does anyone else think that Fred is the one seeing the ooky stuff on Angel just so she’ll understand a little of what Wes went through when the fang gang abadoned him last season? She just has to lose a little of that innocence. Even so, I don’t think she’ll understand about Lilah. Or about Gunn with Gwen, for that matter. Was Gunn on the money with that “turgid supernatural soap opera” remark or what?

Have I been watching a lot of TV lately instead of doing other more productive things? Why, yes. Whatever gave you that idea?
