Useless items found while cleaning

December 15, 2001 Stephanie Leary

– two coiled-up network cables, only one belonging to me
– my wrist brace, needed last night

– the cradle for my broken Palm*

– an end fitting for a coax cable, still in the Radio Shack packaging*

– empty water bottles, courtesy of my dear, darling slob of a boyfriend

– one of those converter/connectors for old-style keyboards*

– a map of Massachusetts*

– the Turkey City Lexicon

– three pairs of broken sunglasses

– many pens with no caps

– a promotional “Legend of the Rangers” postcard brought back from WorldCon*

– my glasses

– back issues of Wired*

– three Bic Round Stic pens, black, medium point, all without caps

– mail I should have answered long ago

– four coats

– several books I hadn’t finished reading

– caps for the aforementioned pens

– my Viable Paradise T-shirt and manuscripts

– tapes from the reunion of Idiot, featuring Tad Williams on lead vocals

and a black pen which, left uncapped, had soaked half its ink into a nearby white towel. The towel, being one of the super-absorbent variety, may be beyond repair. Nevertheless, it’s soaking in a bowl of Woolite. Yes, I am an eternal optimist.

  • – items up for grabs. Email me if you want them.

WordPress for Web Developers (9781430258667)

This is a book for professional web designers and developers who already know HTML and CSS, and want to learn to build sites with WordPress. The book begins with a detailed tour of the administration screens and settings, then digs into server-side topics like performance and security. The second half of the book is devoted to development: learning to build WordPress themes and plugins.

This is the second, much-revised and updated edition of Beginning WordPress 3, with a more accurate title. Everything’s been updated for WordPress 3.6.
